我们都知道可以通过Windows中的自动更新设置来更新自动更新Windows，也可以用Internet Explorer访问微软网站进行更新，如果你有经验的话还可以使用一些专门更新Windows的软件如Autopatcher或Windows Updates Downloader。
还有一种方式来更新Windows的方式可能不太为人所知，它最近在网络上披露，可以使用Windows Update Catalog（Windows更新目录）来下载更新目录。这种方式只能适用IE浏览器，它提供一种比较方便的方式来下载所有的Windows更新补丁，而且是官方微软网站。
网站上有一个搜索条，可以输入Windows版本进入它的更新数据库。例如，输入“Windows XP”可以得到超过1000个结果。当然你最好能够缩小搜索范围。
取代广泛的搜索，你可以使用Windows XP Security Updates或Windows XP KB来进行搜索。如果你想下载的话可以将其添加到框内以便一次下载安装。
使用Windows Update Catalog（Windows更新目录）的好处是你可以下载所有的Windows更新补丁。
但是它也有不方便的地方，没有过滤规则以便于集中搜索，如操作系统版本、语言等。
作者注：要下载Windows更新补丁你必须有正版Windows操作系统，它需要验证版本。
