一个新版本的多媒体播放器SMPlayer 最近发布在Sourceforge的开发者主页上，以我的观点来看它是最好的播放器。SMPlayer是以Mplayer为主体，能运转几乎所有的视频编码，也就是说不用安装其他编码就可以播放几乎所有的多媒体-视频-音频-格式。它可以播放Apple Quicktime .mov而无需安装Quicktime。
SMPlayer适用于Windows和Linux的不同语言版本包括英语和西班牙语。下载的软件大小约为11MB，如果它无需安装额外编码的话这个尺寸并不算大。它支持所有常用的功能，包括均衡器、快进、慢放等等。
它可以使用视频回放而无需硬件加速去从视频中抓取截频。
